If you like antiques, plan to attend the Pattin Antiques Auction New Year’s Day event. About every two weeks during the year, Pattin Auctions holds an auction on Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and lasting until about 2:00 or until Richard’s voice gives out. Arrive early so you can preview all of the items available, receive your bidding number, and claim a seat. The New Year’s Day event is particularly popular and can be standing-room-only. For the New Year’s auction, they will bring in one or two semi trailers full of antiques, usually from the northeast United States.
Where is Pattin Auctions located?
Pattin Auctions is located at 518 Haines NW, one block south of Interstate 40 between 5th and 6th Streets. It’s in a large warehouse building and can be chilly in very cold weather. Sometimes a food vendor has a stand set up inside the building and sometimes there is a food truck in the parking lot.
What you can find at the auction?
Expect to see complete sets of furniture, for example, a complete set of bedroom furniture with bed frame, dresser, nightstands, perhaps an armoire, maybe a matching rocking chair. You can also find a lovely dining table with matching chairs and sometimes a sideboard. There are always tables, clocks, jewelry, cabinets, armoires, mirrors, lamps and light fixtures, works of art, rugs, dishes, washstands, ice boxes, stained glass windows, collectible guns, and trunks, as well as the occasional vending machine or slot machine! One year they sold a beautifully restored Amish dairy wagon, and another year a 12-foot tall wrought iron gazebo.
How do you pay for what you buy?
What you pay will be the amount of your winning bid plus a 10% buyer’s premium. You can pay by cash, debit or credit card, or by check with valid ID. You can take what you purchase home the same day once they’ve processed the paperwork and payment, or you can pick it up the following day between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
