location and hours of the Sandia Lakes Recreation Area
Found at 76 Sandia Lakes Road in Bernalillo, New Mexico, this spacious area is located just 20 minutes away from all the attractions of Albuquerque. During the summer (April 1- September 30) the park is open seven days a week, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. During the winter (October 1- March 31), the park is open 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

This expansive area encompasses approximately 58 acres, with 20 of them being acres of water! There are a total of three lakes that occupy the Sandia Lakes Recreation Area, each offering its own activities. Fishing is a favorite pastime here. One of the lakes is a catch-and-release spot, while the other two lakes allow you to take home up to 5 fish per day. If you need any gear, they have a fishing supply shop located on site so you can purchase anything you need for a relaxing afternoon of fishing. These lakes also provide fantastic kayaking and canoeing for those who love spending time out on the water.
