Best-ever Hot Fudge Sauce

- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder (preferably Dutch process)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup half-and-half
- pinch salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter. Remove from heat. Add the cocoa powder and whisk until smooth.
Stir in the sugar and cream. Whisk to blend completely. Bring sauce to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat as soon as it comes to a boil and whisk in the salt.
Cool briefly. Stir in the vanilla.
