Best-ever Hot Fudge Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder (preferably Dutch process)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup half-and-half
  • pinch salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions
 

  • In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter. Remove from heat. Add the cocoa powder and whisk until smooth.
  • Stir in the sugar and cream. Whisk to blend completely. Bring sauce to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat as soon as it comes to a boil and whisk in the salt.
  • Cool briefly. Stir in the vanilla.
