4 things to do at the Albuquerque BioPark

  1. visit the ABQ BioPark Zoo

Since 1927, the ABQ BioPark Zoo has been a local family favorite! The 64-acre zoo houses more than 900 animals including monkeys, lions, elephants, koalas, and kangaroos. It’s one of the best ways to get up close and personal with exotic creatures right in the heart of Albuquerque.

  1. admire the plant life in the Botanic Garden

The Albuquerque Botanic Garden has over 1.5 miles of paths that wind through formal and whimsical gardens. As you explore, you’ll discover a wide variety of unique plants and animals that populate the garden. This area has received so much positive attention from visitors that it has been named one of the Top 12 Gardens in the Country by the Travel Channel! It is also one of Albuquerque’s most popular wedding destinations! During your visit, you’ll be sure to see the city’s most abundant collection of plants, bugs, and arthropods.

  1. see your favorite sea creatures at the Aquarium

Located alongside the Botanic Garden, the BioPark Aquarium takes visitors on an aquatic journey they won’t soon forget. You’ll see water critters from the Rio Grande all the way to the Gulf of Mexico including a kaleidoscope of colorful fish,  eels, sea turtles, and more. The popular Shark Reef Cafe provides delicious food and a wonderful view of the 280,000-gallon ocean tank, providing a truly unforgettable dining experience.

  1. wander around Tingley Beach

With three fishing ponds, a model boat pond, and walking trails, Tingley Beach is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a peaceful retreat into nature. This is one of our favorite spots to enjoy a relaxing waterside picnic or a paddleboat ride during the summer!
