cane sugar cone
“peloncillo”

cinnamon sticks

guavas, chopped

prunes, chopped

apples, chopped

pears, chopped

raisins

sugar cane sticks, about 5 inches long, cut into 4 pieces each

tamarind pods, peeled
rum or tequila
optional
Instructions
Place water in a large stockpot. Add the cane sugar cone and cinnamon sticks. Cook for about 15 minutes.
Add the chopped guavas, prunes, apples, pears, raisins, sugar cane pieces, and tamarind fruit.
Simmer for about 1 hour.
Serve hot in mugs. Ladle in some of the fruit if desired. Add rum or tequila if desired.
